The Omnibus Shortfilm, RIGHTS, was rated "X" by the MTRCB. Thus, it was not shown during the Open Forum on Transformation and Transgression in Philippine Cinema after the First Quarter Storm. The Independent Filmmakers made "RIGHTS" to depict some present manifestations of Human Rights abuses in the country.
Indeed, things have not transformed nor matured when it comes to political films to be publicly exhibited. Or for a Filmmaker to express his insights. The eye-opener film on harsh Sugar Plantation conditions - "SAKADA by Behn Cervantes" - was a precedent when it was banned during the MARTIAL LAW years.
MTRCB Review of "RIGHTS":
"Scenes in this film are presented unfairly, one-sided and undermines the faith and confidence of the government and duly constituted authorities for public exhibition."
"Shooting Disquiet and Rage: Forum and Film Screening" happened September 21, 2007. That's 35 years after MARTIAL LAW was declared on September 21, 1972.
